Ford introduced the 8.8” rear end back in the ‘80’s and it quickly found a home in the 5.0L Mustangs that put Detroit muscle cars back on the map.

A testament to its popularity, this rear end is still Ford’s choice today as all the new Mustangs still use it.  Replacing the factory ratio with a set of 3:73-1 (#M-4209-F373N) or 4:10-1 (#M-4209-G410A) gears is a quick and easy way to make your Mustang quicker off the line and help get it into the engine’s power band faster.

Ford Racing ring and pinion sets are engineered, manufactured, and tested for maximum performance.

These ring and pinion sets are finished in a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance.

When swapping gears, we recommend that you also purchase a Ford Racing

Traction-Lok rebuild kit (# M-4700-B) and Ford Racing's Ring and Pinion installation kit (#M-4210-C).
